SAMI AS was founded in 1989 by Uuto Jugala as a small enterprise that grew out of the Harju EPT Saue experimental factory. In 1991, the company was privatized, and even before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Uuto actively sought opportunities for cooperation with Finnish companies. The initial collaboration was with the Finnish company Ylö Tehtaat OY. However, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Finnish partner went bankrupt.
One of its former engineers, Risto Käkelä, later established a new brand, Avant Tecno, which went on to become a globally recognized leader in the compact loader industry. SAMI’s growth continued alongside Avant Tecno, manufacturing attachments for loaders. As the next step, SAMI created its own product line for road maintenance equipment, ranging from snow ploughs to brushes and chain mulchers, that can be used in the harsh and variable climatic conditions of the Nordic countries.
